Installation Instructions - 2000+ models

NOTE: Prior to installation, determine the installation location for the compressor, control box, air valve, and the pushbutton assembly. Additional brackets or hardware may be required.

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Support rear of bike and remove current suspension package. (i.e.. shocks, etc.)

3. Install AIRFX cylinder package to the swing arm. The cylinder rods should be facing the front, with the logo on the left side of the bike. Re-install the stock bushings back into the frame mounts, swing the rod end of the cylinder into position, and install the rod studs through the bushings into the rod ends. Install and secure the jam nuts (provided). Do not use any spacers or washers on the shock bolts, the shock is designed to float from side to side on the bolts.

4. Move the swing arm through the suspension travel to verify stroke and check for interferences.

5. Once you have verified the travel, USE RED LOCTITE 262 ON ALL THREADS.

6. Install the check valve (provided) into cylinder port (B) on cylinder package.

7. Mount the compressor such that it does not interfere with any moving suspension or drive train components. An optional bracket is available to mount the compact compressor to the frame exhaust
mount, (consult factory).

8. Mount the control box and valve in the previously determined location. Generally they can be
mounted on the front of the splash pan.

9. Supply 12 volt power to the control box using the loose leads. The compressor has an internal
breaker, therefore, it is not necessary to run the power through the fuse box. You can run directly off the battery (red to positive, black to negative) or you can tie into fuse box. From the 3 pin connector, cut to length and splice the compressor and valve wiring per the labels on the wires.

10. Fit and cut a piece of black tubing (provided) between the compressor port and the straight fitting on the valve package. Connect the open port (elbow fitting) of the valve to the cylinder port marked (A), push the tubing into the instant connection fitting. To release the tube from the fitting, vent system pressure, push in on the blue ring on the fitting, and pull on the tube.

You are now ready to test your newly installed AIRFX, Air Suspension System.

11. Make sure bike goes up and down using the push buttons.

12. Lift the bike through the entire travel of the suspension, while checking for interferences. THE BIKE SHOULD ROLL FREELY AT BOTH THE HIGHEST AND LOWEST SETTINGS.

13. Check for proper drive belt tension at mid travel of the suspension. Listen for leaks. The system should trap the air in the cylinder, it should not drift down.

Installation Instructions - 1985-1999

NOTE: Prior to installation, determine the installation location for the compressor, control box, and the pushbutton assembly. Additional brackets or hardware may be required.

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Support rear of bike and remove current suspension package.

3. Assemble the rod eyes to the cylinder rods with the jam nuts between them.

4. Install the AIRFX cylinder package to the frame shock mounts. The cylinder rods should be facing the rear of the bike and the logo should be on the right side. Do not use any spacers or washers on the shock bolts, the shock is designed to float from side to side on the bolts.

5. Move the swing arm through the suspension travel to verify stroke and check for interferences.

Note: If additional adjustment is required, adjust the rod eyes on cylinder in or out depending on height require- and lock in place with the jam nuts. The jam nuts can also be removed with the rod eye tightened directly to the rod end. The cylinder has been assembled with 0.5" internal bump stops to limit the travel of the suspension. Consult the factory for other stroke options.

6. Once you have completed the shock adjustment, USE RED LOCTITE 262 ON ALL THREADS.

7. Install the check valve (provided) into cylinder port (B) on cylinder package.

8. Mount the compressor such that it does not interfere with any moving suspension or drive train components. An optional mounting bracket is available for the compact compressor, (consult factory).

9. Mount the control box in the previously determined location.

You can run directly off the battery (red to positive, black to negative) or you can tie into the fuse box. Once this is completed, plug the chrome compressor into the control box. If a compact compressor is being used, cut the wires to length and make the connections following the markings on the wires.

11. Fit and cut a piece of black tubing (provided) between the compressor port and the straight fitting on the valve package. Connect the open port (elbow fitting) of the valve to the cylinder port marked (A), push the tubing into the instant connection fitting. ********* WARNING *********
THIS SYSTEM MAY USE THE FULL TRAVEL OF THE SUSPENSION. THE INSTALLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROPER INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM. LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN THE SUSPENSION MOVING TO ITS LOWEST POSITION. THE INSTALLER IS RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY THE SAFETY OF THE APPLICATION. IMPROPER INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE MOTORCYCLE AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
