Sport Bikes: Front Air Ride
Our front air ride systems are specially designed for your sport bike. We currently offer the following custom-designed systems:
Suzuki GSXR1000
Suzuki Hayabusa
Kawasaki ZX-10, ZX-12, and ZX-14
Yamaha R1 and R6
Honda CBR
The front air ride systems include two shock replacements for each front fork, as well as aluminum fork caps to emphasize the upgrade. A toggle switch or optional micro-buttons complement the kit. Front air ride packages start at $1,595.Due to the sensitivity of front-end suspension components, AirFX strongly recommends having a qualified mechanic perform the following installation.
**You MUST have a "pass through" or "open" top triple clamp to use the AirFX front suspension. (The air fittings must be accessible.)
**Your bike must be equipped with the AIRFX "Instant-UP" package or have stored compressed air to feed the front suspension.
1. Lift front of motorcycle and secure.
2. Remove front axel and wheel assembly making sure to remove brake calipers so there is no damage to front wheel.
3. Remove socket head bolt from bottom of fork tube cylinder assembly. NOTE: Oil will drain from tube at this point. Have container ready.
4. Loosen top triple clamp bolt to take pressure off fork tube and remove upper cap pulling out complete assembly. (Cap, spring, and dampening rod)
5. Remove lower fork tube being careful not to damage seals.
6. Apply a liberal amount of provided (green) grease to inner bushings using a rag wrapped around a screwdriver. (This will provide lubrication in the absence of fork oil)
7. Replace lower fork tube being careful not to damage seals.
8. Apply a little grease to the threaded portion of the top cap of the AirFX cartridge assembly and insert into top of upper fork tube. (Do not thread top cap into tube yet.)
9. Apply a little grease to threads and install provided bottom socket head bolt with stock crush washer and tighten with Allen wrench. (DO NOT use the stock bolt. The threads will not match the treads in the AirFX cartridge).
10. Thread and tighten top cap into upper fork tube being careful not to damage the air fittings.
11. Repeat for the other fork tube.
You are now ready to run airlines and wire your system.
A. Find a good location for the Valve package and secure in place.
B. Working your way from the fork tubes to the supplied "T" fitting. Run (1) section of airline from each fork tube and connect to "T" connected on the center of the valve package.
C. Connect the "T" on the inlet side of the valve package to the air tank
D. The pigtail electrical connection has (4) wires. Connect the red wire and one of the black wires to the input valve coil (connected to air tank) and the white/orange wire and a black wire to the other valve coil (dump).
E. Adjust the rebound by raising the front end 1⁄2 stroke and vent the schrader valves. This will provide a ride similar to stock. Air can be added/vented to change the rebound. To lock the front shocks down, lower the front end all the way and add 50 psi to the schrader valves.
You are now ready to test your newly installed AIRFX, Air Suspension System.
1. Make sure bike goes up and down using the push buttons (or toggle).
2. Lift the bike through the entire travel of the suspension, while checking for interferences.
THE BIKE SHOULD ROLL FREELY AT BOTH THE HIGHEST AND LOWEST SETTINGS
3. Check for proper drive belt/chain tension at mid travel of the suspension. Listen for leaks. The system should trap the air in the cylinder, it should not drift down.
MODIFY THE KICKSTAND SO THAT THE BIKE REMAINS UPRIGHT WHEN ALL OF THE AIR IS DUMPED

THIS SYSTEM MAY USE THE FULL TRAVEL OF THE SUSPENSION. THE INSTALLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROPER INSTALLATION. LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN THE SUSPENSION MOVING TO IT'S LOWEST POSITION. THE INSTALLER IS RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY THE SAFETY OF THE APPLICATION. IMPROPER INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE MOTORCYCLE AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
